Today the khateeb reminded us that Allah created us to worship Him, and the best way to do that well is to become people of birr, which means righteousness. He explained a verse from Surah al-Baqarah that says righteousness isn't just about which direction we face in prayer. It's about obeying Allah from the inside out. First comes the heart: believing in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the holy books, and the prophets. Next, righteousness shows when we give away things we love, like our money, to relatives, orphans, people in need, travelers, and captives. It also means praying properly and on time, paying zakah, keeping our promises, and staying patient when life gets hard. So being a good Muslim covers our hearts, our worship, and how we treat other people, not just what others can see.

  1. What's something you really love that you could share with someone else for Allah's sake this week?
  2. Have you ever made a promise that was hard to keep? What happened?
  3. Who in our family or among our friends might need a little extra help or kindness right now?
