The khutbah tells the story of the Ansar, the people of Madinah, who welcomed the Muslims who emigrated from Makkah. They shared their homes, wealth, land, and gardens with their brothers. After the battle of Hunayn, the Prophet gave the new Muslims much of the wealth, and the Ansar felt overlooked. He spoke to them humbly, honored their sacrifices, and reminded them that their strong faith was greater than material gifts.
