Eid gratitude should lead us to Jannah
“No one should walk this path to Jannah alone.”
Eid al-Fitr is a grateful celebration of Allah’s enablement during Ramadan and a reminder to continue toward the greater joy of meeting Him in Jannah.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Reframes Eid as Allah’s recognition of Ramadan’s sacrifices and worship.
- Explains the fasting person’s two joys: breaking the fast and meeting Allah.
- Connects Eid gratitude and takbir with global suffering and personal struggles.
- Contrasts Ramadan’s temporary hunger with forgiveness, transformation, and the greater joys of Jannah.
- Calls families to pursue Jannah together through patience, mutual understanding, and expressed love.
- Renews commitment to Allah, ending with du'a, greetings, and Eid congratulations.
In the khateeb's words
“Today is not just about joy It's about recognition It is that after a month Allah recognizes the hunger that you felt”
“No one should walk This path To Jannah alone Families We need Each other To get to Jannah”
For the dinner table
Eid is a joyful thank-you to Allah for helping us worship through Ramadan. The khutbah reminds us that today’s happiness is a small glimpse of the greater joy believers hope for in Jannah, where there is no fear, sadness, sickness, or death. Ramadan should change us, so we keep turning to Allah and keep our hearts and homes connected. Families should be patient with one another, give more than they take, and tell living parents that they love them. We should leave Eid by greeting friends, family, and neighbors, sharing congratulations, and asking Allah to accept our good deeds.
- What is one way Ramadan changed you besides making you hungry or tired?
- Who in our family could use more patience or encouragement from us?
- What is one loving Eid greeting or action we can offer someone today?
