For the dinner table

Today's khutbah was about the Prophet Ibrahim (alayhi salam), the man at the center of Hajj and Eid al-Adha. There was a time when he was the only believer on earth, and he still stood up for the truth, even with his own father and his whole community. He loved Allah so much that he was ready to give up his beloved son, and Allah rewarded him with even more blessings and made the prophets after him come from his family. The khateeb also reminded us that Ibrahim was gentle and merciful with everyone, and that being kind to people is half of our faith. As we celebrate, we remember our brothers and sisters suffering in Gaza, Sudan, and elsewhere: we thank Allah that we're safe, and we help them through dua, charity, and awareness. He left us with two questions to think about: Is Allah truly the greatest in our hearts, and what are we willing to give up for Him?

  1. Ibrahim stood up for what was right even when he was all alone. When is it hard for you to do the right thing in front of your friends?
  2. What's one thing you could give up this week, like screen time or a little sleep, to make Allah happy?
  3. What's one blessing we have at home that kids in Gaza or Sudan don't have right now, and how can we help them?
