For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, gave us guidance for a good life here and success in the afterlife. One part of growing in faith is spending our time on what benefits us and leaving unnecessary conversations and distractions behind. The khateeb also reminded us that everyone makes mistakes, and we should avoid searching for other people's faults or spreading them around. He encouraged us to care for others and help them through difficult times, teaching that Allah helps those who help others. This week, we can practice these lessons by being thoughtful about our screens, gentle with our words, and ready to lend a hand.

  1. What is one distraction you could spend less time on to make room for something worthwhile?
  2. How could you kindly change the subject when people start sharing someone's embarrassing mistake?
  3. Who could use a little help from us this week, and what could we do?
