Allah loves those who serve His religion
“Every one of us should ask: if I disappear tomorrow, what service to Islam would disappear with me?”
Allah describes four qualities of the believers He loves, humility toward believers, dignity before rejecters, striving in His path through service, and indifference to blame, and the real question is whether Allah will find us fit to carry His religion.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Opening with taqwa verses and the four qualities of those Allah loves
- The immense value of a single believer in Allah's sight; never break a believer's heart
- Quality 2: dignified, not arrogant or ashamed, toward those who reject faith
- Quality 3: striving in Allah's path as servants and burden-carriers, not 'consumer Muslims'
- Quality 4: not fearing the blame of critics, grounded in Suratul Ahzab 39
- Close: serving Islam is an honor Allah grants; will He find us when He looks for carriers of His religion?
In the khateeb's words
“the stronger they become the more humble they become the wealthier they become the more humble they become the more famous they become the more humble they become”
“breaking a heart of a believer is very dangerous be humble be generous even you are at the right side”
“every one of us should ask if I disappear tomorrow what service to Islam would disappear with me”
“not will Islam survive Allah Celle ve A'la has already answered that question Islam will survive”
For the dinner table
Today the khateeb spoke about a beautiful verse describing the people Allah loves and who love Him back. They have four qualities: they are gentle and humble with fellow believers, never crushing anyone but lifting them up; they carry their Islam with quiet dignity in front of the world, never ashamed of their names or their faith; they strive in Allah's path by serving, teaching, volunteering, mentoring, and giving of their time and money; and they don't let anyone's criticism stop them, because they want Allah's pleasure, not people's applause. The khateeb asked us some uncomfortable but important questions: if I disappeared tomorrow, what service to Islam would disappear with me, and who is closer to Allah because of me? He reminded us that being allowed to serve Islam is not a burden, it is an honor and a gift from Allah. He ended by saying Islam will surely survive; the real question is whether, when Allah looks for people to carry His religion, He will find us, our families, and our children.
- The khateeb said strong people should be the most humble, what's one way you could lift someone up this week instead of tearing them down?
- If you disappeared tomorrow, what good thing at school, at the masjid, or with your friends would disappear with you?
- Has worrying about what people think ever stopped you from doing something you knew was right, what would you do differently now?
