For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah connected the tragedy of Karbala with the awaited return of Imam al-Mahdi, saying that Karbala is not only history but a call to justice and self-reform. We are encouraged to share its message respectfully with neighbors, friends, and coworkers, so others can understand why it matters. The khateeb then offered three daily practices: organize life around Salah, remember Imam Husayn when drinking water while avoiding waste, and forgive petty grudges. He also asked us to remember people facing hardship in our prayers and to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of the martyrs. The goal is to keep Karbala alive through the way we pray, conserve, and treat people.

  1. How can we make prayer the center of a busy day?
  2. What can remembering Karbala teach us about wasting water?
  3. Who might we need to forgive, and how could we begin?
