Hijrah calls believers from talk to action
“You have to move, you have to have trust in Allah.”
The Hijrah and Hajj teach believers to move from talk to action, prepare diligently, trust Allah, and recognize that divine support ultimately benefits the believer.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Uses Surah al-Tawbah to introduce the Hijrah and the beginning of the Hijri year.
- Explains why Muharram begins the calendar even though the Hijrah occurred in Rabi al-Awwal.
- Compares Hijrah and Hajj as journeys requiring movement, preparation, and trust.
- Draws lessons from the cave encounter: Allah's presence, support, and tranquility.
- Concludes by urging faith, remembrance, reliance on Allah, and sincere supplication.
In the khateeb's words
“it's not time to talk now it's time to make an action there is no time to talk right now hijrat you have to move you have to have trust in Allah”
“when you support Rasulullah when you support this deen when you support the message of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and the Quran basically you support yourself”
For the dinner table
The khateeb connected the beginning of the Hijri year with the Hijrah of the Prophet Muhammad. He compared Hijrah with Hajj, explaining that both require leaving comfort, moving forward, and preparing beforehand. He reminded us that Allah supported the Prophet in the cave and that believers should trust Allah during difficulty. Supporting faith and worship does not benefit Allah, who needs nothing; it benefits us by strengthening our iman, taqwa, and certainty. The khutbah ended with prayers for faith, healing, forgiveness, guidance, and closeness to Allah.
- What is one good action you could begin instead of only talking about it?
- How can you prepare better before an important act of worship?
- When have you felt helped by trusting Allah during a difficult moment?
