Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that we all need Allah’s mercy for forgiveness, help with our shortcomings, and relief in hard times. The khateeb encouraged us to ask Allah for mercy and to show kindness and mercy to others. At home, parents should care for and protect their children, children should be kind to their parents, and spouses should avoid burdening one another. Children learn mercy when they see it practiced between the adults around them. He also urged us to help people in poverty and crisis, including those in Gaza, and to treat our neighbors and people under our authority with kindness.

  1. What is one way you could show mercy when someone makes a mistake?
  2. When have you learned kindness by watching someone in our family?
  3. What could we do together this week to ease someone’s difficulties?
