Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Today we were reminded that the Prophet Muhammad was sent as mercy for all creation. The khutbah described his example through three areas: good character, sincere worship, and honest dealings. We should show that character first at home, then with neighbors and coworkers, including by avoiding conduct that disturbs others and by keeping promises and debts. We should protect the five daily prayers, seek knowledgeable guidance instead of inventing religion from personal opinions, and ask Allah for help. The goal is to let our lives represent the Prophet’s teaching, not merely speak about it.

  1. Which of the three areas, character, worship, or dealings, would make the biggest difference in our family this week, and why?
  2. What is one way we can make a neighbor, classmate, or coworker feel respected?
  3. What helps you remember to pray salah on time?
