Do not defend falsehood or judge others

“You are a good Muslim when people are safe around you.”

The khateeb, at 44:19

Muslims must fear Allah by refusing to defend falsehood, spread unverified accusations, or judge others’ hidden faith, and should instead practice fairness, repentance, peace, and brotherly love.

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us to stand with truth and justice, even when loyalty to a person, family, group, or party pulls us elsewhere. We should never defend wrongdoing, deceive people, or spread accusations that we cannot prove. Only Allah fully knows what is inside a person’s heart, so we must be very careful about calling others disbelievers, hypocrites, or insincere. Differences of opinion should not turn believers into enemies or lead us toward suspicion, spying, and backbiting. Instead, we should repent for our mistakes, spread peace, and help one another feel safe from our words and actions.

  3. What is one way our family can spread peace and make others feel safe?
