Wealth should serve worship and family

“The reason for wealth and rizq being given to us is so that we may be free to worship Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.”

The khateeb, at 15:18

In one sentence

Wealth is a blessing meant to facilitate worship, charity, and family responsibility, not an endless pursuit that displaces faith and preparation for the grave.

The khutbah in 6 steps

For the dinner table

Today’s reminder is that wanting more money never naturally ends; only the grave ends that appetite. Wealth is a blessing when it helps us worship Allah, support our families, give charity, and care for people with less. Parents were urged to spend time teaching their children Islam and to measure success by the faith and character they nurture, not by titles or possessions. We should give before death, practice generosity in everyday buying and selling, and keep our hearts free from attachment to the dunya. The closing prayers asked for forgiveness, relief for suffering communities, and unity.
