For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that faith needs to show up in what we do, not only in what we say. The khateeb encouraged us to pray with humble hearts and turn to Allah with our questions and struggles. He described the Prophet's example of teaching people with love and drawing them close, rather than making them feel hopeless. He especially emphasized good character and kindness toward our families. Following the Prophet's example also means practicing gratitude, limiting our desires, and leaving alone what does not concern us. When we fall short, we can repent to Allah and get back to the work of doing better.

  1. What is one way you could put your faith into action tomorrow?
  2. What could we do at home to help each person feel more loved?
  3. What are you grateful for today, and how could you show that gratitude?
