Keep worshipping after success
“The journey and the life of a believer should be such that once one good deed is finished, our eyes should move to the next journey.”
Ibrahim's story teaches believers to continue worship after success, keep deeds sincere, pray for their families and future generations, and remain concerned for others.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Ibrahim completes the sacrifice test, teaching believers to move from one act of worship to the next.
- Ibrahim and Ismail build the Ka'bah, highlighting unified worship, sincerity, and Maqam Ibrahim.
- After completing the Ka'bah, Ibrahim asks Allah to accept the deed and forgive its shortcomings.
- Ibrahim prays for his own submission, his descendants' faith, and guidance for future generations.
- Ibrahim's concern for Lut demonstrates selflessness even while receiving joyful news about his own family.
In the khateeb's words
“But the lesson here is that the journey and the life of a believer should be such that once one good deed is finished, our eyes should move to the next journey.”
“People want recognition for something When someone does something There is recognition that is desired And often the sincerity is then tested The ikhlas is tested because of the recognition”
“And in it there is a lesson For us that we put the groundwork So that the next generation Their Iman is fortified And the Iman is protected”
“His selflessness Is shown And concern Is shown About others as well He forgets About his delight He forgets About his joy And he has his concern”
For the dinner table
Ibrahim completed one major test, then immediately turned to the next obligation: building the Ka'bah with Ismail. The sermon says sincere work is not done for recognition, and after serving Allah we should ask Him to accept our effort and forgive its shortcomings. Ibrahim also prayed that he and his descendants would remain submitted to Allah and that future generations would receive guidance. His concern reached beyond his own family: when he heard that Lut's people would be destroyed, he asked about Lut even while receiving joyful news about a son. We can carry these lessons by continuing our worship, protecting our family's faith, and caring about others.
- What could be your next good deed after finishing one?
- How can our family help protect one another’s iman?
- How can we show concern for others when something good happens to us?
