Blessings become duties to serve others

“Use whatever Allah gave you for the hereafter.”

The khateeb, at 42:24

In one sentence

Societies are preserved when those blessed with wealth, power, or comfort recognize those blessings as responsibilities, use them for good, and collectively restrain oppression.

The khutbah in 5 steps

  1. Explains how neglected responsibilities among the privileged can cause social decline.
  2. Examines three justifications for privilege: wealth proves correctness, tradition should remain unchanged, and success is entirely self-made.
  3. Uses Qarun’s story to present four proper uses of wealth: seeking the hereafter, enjoying a lawful share, doing good, and avoiding corruption.
  4. Argues that societies are saved when people actively command good, oppose oppression, and work to set things right.
  5. Applies the message to local life, emphasizing generosity, service, mutual encouragement, and support for community institutions.
