For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah invited us to look at Ibrahim’s life as a guide for faithful living. We were encouraged to speak up against injustice, even when it is uncomfortable, while keeping respect and dignity. We were also asked to identify our “Ismail”, the attachment or habit we may need to sacrifice for Allah, such as missed prayer, a harmful relationship, or an addiction. Ibrahim’s example also teaches us to have a strong commitment to truth and a soft, patient heart with family and neighbors. The goal is to bring this Abrahamic spirit into our everyday choices.

  1. What is one thing that can make it harder for us to obey Allah?
  2. How can we be brave about what is right while still speaking gently?
  3. What is one way our family can show more affection this week?
