For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah focused on three habits that can bring peace to our hearts: forgiveness, overlooking faults, and optimism. The khateeb compared hatred to heavy stones we carry around and encouraged us to forgive others while seeking Allah’s forgiveness ourselves. He reminded us that real strength includes controlling our anger. He also encouraged us to let some everyday mistakes pass and to give advice gently. Finally, he called us to think well of Allah, remember ease when facing hardship, and speak with hope to our families.

  1. What could help you calm down before speaking when you feel angry?
  2. What small mistake could you let pass kindly this week?
  3. What hopeful words could you offer someone who is having a difficult day?
