For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that loving Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, means putting his character into practice. The imam described how he cared about helping others from a young age and stayed with his people through hardship. He showed leadership by looking after his companions before securing his own journey to Medina, and the believers there welcomed newcomers by sharing what they had. The khutbah also highlighted his appreciation for people from different backgrounds and his willingness to seek and follow his wife’s advice. As a family, we can carry these lessons into our week by helping someone, listening carefully, and making room for others.

  1. What is one good thing you could do this week instead of saving it for later?
  2. How could you help someone new feel welcome at school or at the masjid?
  3. When has someone else’s advice helped you see a problem differently?
