Your friends shape your faith

“A person will follow the religion of his friend.”

The khateeb, at 10:34

In one sentence

Because companions shape one's faith and habits, Muslims should deliberately choose friends who remind them of Allah, encourage good deeds, avoid gossip, and strengthen certainty.

The khutbah teaches that our friends strongly influence our faith, habits, and outlook. A good friend reminds us of Allah, encourages good deeds, helps others, and responds to life with gratitude and contentment. We should be careful around people who gossip, backbite, belittle others, or waste time in harmful talk. The best friendships are rooted in sincere hearts and can benefit us both in this life and on the Day of Judgment.
