Isa was Allah's servant and prophet
“The first thing that would come out from the mouth of Isa alayhi salam is I'm the servant of Allah.”
The khutbah argues that the Quran presents Isa (Jesus) as a human prophet and servant of Allah, that later Christian doctrines departed from his message of tawhid, and that Muslims must preserve their faith and nurture it in their children.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Introduces Isa, Jesus, and al-Masih, explaining the names and Muslim usage.
- Recounts Maryam’s dedication, protection, and miraculous provision under Zakariya.
- Narrates Isa’s miraculous birth and infant declaration of servanthood, prayer, charity, and obedience.
- Describes Isa’s mission of tawhid, rejection by those seeking political revolution, and his raising to heaven.
- Explains the speaker’s account of Christianity’s doctrinal development through Paul, Tertullian, and Constantine.
- Calls Muslims to avoid Christmas and Easter participation, remain proud of tawhid, and protect their children’s faith.
In the khateeb's words
“when Allah decides something to happen it will happen no matter what comes in the way there is no such thing as a challenge or a blockage for the hukam and the command of Allah”
“Allah made it such that the first thing that would come out from the mouth of isa alayhi salam is i'm the servant of Allah”
“the primary objective of a nabi is to do islah and to reform the people to invite them to Allah”
For the dinner table
The khutbah teaches that Isa, known as Jesus, was a great prophet and a servant of Allah, not God or God’s son. It retells how Maryam was specially protected, how Isa was born miraculously, and how he called people to worship Allah, pray, give charity, and honor parents. It says Isa was raised to heaven rather than killed or crucified. The speaker also explains that later Christian beliefs changed over time through figures such as Paul, Tertullian, and Constantine. Families are encouraged to value tawhid, avoid Christmas and Easter celebrations, and nurture their children’s Islam.
- What can Isa’s first words teach us about humility and worship?
- How can our family help protect and strengthen our faith this week?
- How should we respond respectfully when we encounter other religious celebrations?
