For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that believing in the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, means following his commands and avoiding what he prohibited. The khateeb explained that love for the Prophet should show in our actions, not just our words. He shared Umar’s reflection on loving the Prophet more than himself and connected following the Prophet with seeking rescue in the Hereafter. He encouraged us to grow in love and understanding by studying the Prophet’s authentic biography and sunnah. As a simple starting point, he suggested spending 15 minutes each day learning, with the intention of putting what we learn into practice.

  1. What would you like to learn about the Prophet’s life, and why?
  2. How could we make 15 minutes of learning together part of our day?
  3. What could help you put something you learn about the Prophet’s teachings into practice?
