Allah honors every human being

“Allah Ta'ala says that we have honored every son of Adam.”

The khateeb, at 4:05

In one sentence

Allah has honored every child of Adam, so a true Muslim must protect the dignity of every human being, never humiliating anyone with word or hand, and giving in a way that preserves the recipient's honor, as exemplified by Imam al-Hasan.

The khutbah in 7 steps

  1. Arabic opening: praise of Allah and exhortation to taqwa
  2. Quran (Surah al-Isra): 'We have honored the children of Adam', Allah created Adam by His own hands and blew the ruh into him as marks of honor
  3. Humans today are treated like animals or worse; believers must never belittle anyone (Sahih Muslim hadith on not oppressing, abandoning, or humiliating)
  4. A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand others are safe; Islam is peace (salam), embodied in the dua 'Allahumma antas-salam'
  5. Month of Safar: legacy of Imam al-Hasan, beloved of the Prophet, master of the youth of Paradise, who gave up the khilafah to end bloodshed
  6. Story of the impoverished bedouin poet and Imam al-Hasan: asking for help with dignity, and giving everything while shielding the recipient from shame
  7. Conclusion: Islam wants nobility (karam), not mere generosity; dua for the ummah and oppressed peoples, then announcements and salah

When helping someone in need, protect their dignity, give without shaming them or parading the favor
Fill the gaps and move forward in the prayer rows so latecomers have space
Register children for the masjid's Sunday school and join the zikr and tea after maghrib

Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that Allah honored every child of Adam, whether righteous or struggling, and that honoring people is at the heart of being Muslim. The khateeb told us the story of Imam Al-Hassan, who gave away everything he had to a poor neighbor but was so careful not to embarrass him that he would not even open the door fully. The lesson is that Islam asks us not just to be generous, but to be noble, protecting the dignity of others with our words, our hands, and our charity. Let us try to be people who bring peace and safety to everyone around us.

  1. Have you ever seen someone help another person while also protecting their dignity? What happened?
  2. What is one way we can use our words or hands to bring peace at school or at home this week?
  3. Why is it better to help someone without making them feel embarrassed?
