For the dinner table

Today the khateeb reminded us that the Prophet Muhammad (s) was the most polite and kind person, even with people who were rude, arrogant or difficult. Many people believe you have to be tough with tough people, but the Prophet (s) stayed gentle and kept to his values with everyone, and that is how he changed hearts. Anas bin Malik served him from the age of ten and said that in ten years the Prophet (s) never once scolded him, even when he got distracted playing with other kids. Even at home, when things were hard, the Prophet (s) never raised his hand or threw anyone out, and sometimes he simply smiled. The khateeb said the best way to share Islam is not only through books and videos but by being honest, kind and trustworthy people so that others see the beauty of the Prophet's (s) way in us.

  1. When someone is rude to you, what is one way you could stay kind like the Prophet (s) did?
  2. If you forgot to do something you were asked to do, how would you want a grown-up to respond, and how could you treat others the same way?
  3. What is one thing you could do this week so that your friends or neighbours see what a good Muslim is like?
