For the dinner table

The khutbah says confidence and self-reliance are good, but they become dangerous when they make us forget Allah. Using the Qur’anic story of Hunayn, the speaker explains that a large, prepared community became overconfident and felt trapped when it lost sight of its dependence on Allah. Our outward success, money, family, friends, education, or influence, does not guarantee inner peace; remembrance of Allah must remain at the center. In hardship, we are encouraged to ask Allah for mercy and not leave us to ourselves, while still using the means and responsibilities available to us.
