The khutbah teaches that Islam is a complete way of life, not only a set of visible rituals. It has four connected parts: belief in Allah and the unseen, worship, good character, and good dealings with people. Prayer, fasting, and zakah should change our hearts and behavior, helping us become more truthful, respectful, and considerate. We can begin by noticing one weakness in ourselves and practicing its opposite. In the masjid, this means avoiding disturbance and listening quietly during the khutbah.
