Try this week
Practice tawakkul as heartfelt trust in Allah’s control over benefit, harm, and sustenance.
When leaving home, recite the taught supplication beginning “Bismillah, I rely on Allah, and there is no power or strength except through Allah.”
When returning home, say that you rely on Allah and consciously feel its meaning.
When facing debt, marital problems, or workplace difficulties, turn to Allah while recognizing that people are not the ultimate source of help.
Seek provision through responsible effort, like the birds, while trusting Allah’s decree.
Make pleasing Allah and preparing for the Hereafter the central purpose of life rather than material gain.

For the dinner table

Tawakkul means relying on Allah with the heart, trusting that no one controls benefit, harm, or provision except Him. The khateeb connected this trust to prayer, the prophets, and the way we face debt, family problems, and work worries. He reminded us that caring about the Hereafter should be our deepest goal, while Allah can place richness in the heart and provide what we need. Tawakkul does not mean sitting still: like birds, we go out and seek provision while trusting Allah. This week, we can say the leaving-home supplication with real awareness and practice turning our worries back toward Allah.

  1. What is one worry you can hand over to Allah while still doing your part?
  2. How can a bird’s example teach us about effort and trust?
  3. What could help you remember tawakkul when you leave home?
