For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that our time is precious, and once it passes, we cannot get it back. The companions had work and family responsibilities too, but they made time to learn, help others, and seek Allah's pleasure. The khateeb praised giving money and encouraged us to also give our time and skills regularly. He reminded us to make room for our families and for the rest our bodies need, including putting our phones aside to give loved ones attention. We can start with one small, steady commitment to a cause we care about, helping our neighbors or people suffering farther away.

  1. Who could we help this week, and what could we spend time doing for them?
  2. What would you enjoy doing together during some phone-free family time?
  3. What skill or interest could you use to help others?
