For the dinner table

This khutbah reminded us that we always have room to grow in our manners, and that Dua Makarim al-Akhlaq teaches us to ask Allah for help with that growth. The khateeb encouraged us to take responsibility for our choices and resist harmful assumptions, jealousy, and hurtful speech. He explained that we should replace these habits with remembrance of Allah, praise, and gratitude. He asked us to notice blessings we often take for granted and described love of Ahlulbayt as a great spiritual treasure. As a family, we can choose one teaching to practice within the next 24 hours and talk about what we learn.

  1. What blessing did you notice today that you usually take for granted?
  2. When someone laughs nearby, what explanations could you consider before assuming they are laughing at you?
  3. What is one way you could use your words kindly in the next 24 hours?
