Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Allah gives us a wide field of freedom, but He also gives us boundaries through halal and haram. Those boundaries are meant to protect us, not simply restrict us. The khutbah teaches that true freedom comes when we surrender our desires to Allah and train our minds to govern our feelings. In our homes and communities, we should honor legitimate authority while never abusing authority. We are responsible for our behavior and should help build a community that encourages good and resists harm.

  1. What is one boundary that has protected you or helped you grow?
  2. How can we show respect for authority while speaking up about unfairness?
  3. What good could our family encourage this week?
