For the dinner table

This khutbah reminded us to care for our hearts so that anger, resentment, and jealousy do not consume us. The khateeb shared three ways to do that: act sincerely for Allah, wish good for Muslims and offer helpful advice to their leaders, and stay involved in the community. Being together helps us learn from people with different backgrounds and experiences. Disagreements will happen, but we can work on controlling our anger and speaking truthfully. Even when forgiveness feels difficult, we can still offer salaam with a clean heart and remember that we are responsible for our own actions.

  1. What is one kind thing you could do for Allah without needing anyone to notice?
  2. What has someone with a different background taught you?
  3. When you feel angry, what helps you pause before speaking?
