Eid is a day of happiness and gratitude because Allah enabled us to fast, pray, read Quran, give charity, and restrain ourselves. The khateeb reminded us that the greater joy is meeting Allah, and that joy grows when we carry some Ramadan worship into the rest of the year. We should celebrate Eid with our families and children, enjoy lawful fun, and stay within Allah’s limits without waste. We should also thank Allah for peace and safety, make dua for Muslims facing oppression and war, and teach our children that they belong to one ummah. In this way, Eid can be joyful today and a step toward the lasting happiness of meeting our Lord.
