For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that the beauty of Islam should show in how we treat people. A smile, a peaceful greeting, honesty, and kindness to our neighbors are all ways to put faith into action. The khateeb explained that prayer and fasting should help clean our hearts and improve our words and behavior, while zakat teaches us to care for others. He encouraged us to make things easier for people, forgive graciously, and treat our families kindly. He also reminded us to be fair to everyone, including people who are not Muslim or whom we dislike. As a family, we can choose one small action this week that helps someone experience that kindness.

  1. Who could you greet or include this week to help them feel welcome?
  2. How could you turn an angry reply into words that show kindness?
  3. What is one way our family could give or share to care for someone else?
