True Islam means submitting to Allah

“The real test for us in our day and age in our lives is when the command of Allah Ta'ala conflicts with our desires.”

The khateeb, at 9:40

True Islam is willing submission to Allah’s commands, especially when those commands conflict with personal desires, and that submission must shape self-discipline and leadership.

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught that Islam means submitting to Allah even when we do not understand every reason. Ibrahim showed this through obedience in difficult situations, and our own tests appear when faith conflicts with comfort, habits, or desires. We should practice submission by guarding our prayers, anger, speech, gaze, and what we consume or say. Leadership begins with serving Allah and taking responsibility for ourselves and our families. We can ask Allah to help Muslims and those suffering in Gaza and Palestine.

  1. Which daily habit makes obedience to Allah difficult for you?
  2. What does responsible leadership look like in our family?
  3. Which part of your speech or behavior would you like to control better this week?
