Put Islam above wealth and status
“The most beloved thing in our hearts should be that we're Muslim.”
Muslims should value Islam above worldly wealth, status, and recognition, serving Allah sincerely like the Ansar without expecting worldly reward.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Taqwa means conscious obedience, while wealth and family can distract believers from Allah.
- The Muhajirun and Ansar modeled sacrifice and commitment to the Prophet.
- After Hunayn, the Ansar felt disappointed when worldly spoils passed them by.
- The Prophet addressed their feelings openly and reminded them that faith was greater than material gifts.
- Listeners are urged to become today’s Ansar through sincere, quiet service and leadership development.
In the khateeb's words
“The reminder for today's khutbah Is to not take The gift of Islam For granted To not take this gift And to work hard for it To work hard for the sake Of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala”
“The most beloved thing In our hearts Should be That we're Muslim The most beloved thing In our hearts Should be that we believe In Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala”
For the dinner table
Allah has given us the greatest gift: Islam and the ability to worship Him. The story of the Ansar shows that even devoted people can become disappointed when worldly rewards seem to pass them by. The Prophet addressed their feelings openly and reminded them that faith and closeness to him were worth more than camels or wealth. We can follow their best example by serving our families, masjid, and community sincerely, even when nobody notices. Our goal is to be helpers of Islam who are grateful for our share and use Allah’s gifts in His service.
- What is one helpful thing you can do this week without anyone noticing?
- When have you felt thankful for being Muslim?
- How can our family serve the masjid without seeking praise?
