For the dinner table

The khutbah begins with a reminder from a burial: when we leave this world, our wealth and relatives return, but our deeds remain with us. Prophet Yusuf's story shows how Allah can raise someone from slavery and wrongful imprisonment to a position of trust. Yusuf accepted responsibility for Egypt's food stores because he was both reliable and knowledgeable, and he prepared for famine during years of abundance. We should build a legacy of faith and goodness, protect what others entrust to us, and seek responsibility only when we are ready to serve. Even the greatest honor in this life is less than the lasting reward Allah promises in the hereafter.

  3. What is one thing our family can prepare for wisely?
