For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us to be patient when we have tried our best and life does not go according to our plans. At the same time, the khateeb encouraged us to act promptly when we have an opportunity to please Allah. He described Musa rushing to meet his Lord as an example of eagerness to please Him. Every good deed done for Allah matters, even when nobody notices or we cannot see its results right away. The khateeb also asked us to appreciate Allah’s guidance, choose companions who encourage goodness, and think carefully about how we influence the people around us.

  1. What is one good deed you could do today instead of putting it off?
  2. When something you worked hard for did not happen, what helped you stay patient?
  3. How could you encourage a friend or sibling to do something that pleases Allah this week?
