Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

The khutbah teaches that Islam has pillars, but its full building is akhlaq, good character and good manners. The Prophet's life shows us how to worship Allah, treat family and neighbors, raise children, and care for Muslims, non-Muslims, and vulnerable people. His mercy appeared even when he was mistreated at Ta'if and when he comforted a piece of wood. Before we act, we can pause and ask what the Prophet's guidance would be, then try to follow it.

  1. What good character trait from the Prophet could we practice at home this week?
  2. How can we show mercy to someone who is weak, different from us, or difficult to get along with?
  3. What could we ask ourselves before making a hard choice?
