For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us to make pleasing Allah the purpose behind our actions. The khateeb shared how people who sincerely wanted to join a good deed, but were prevented by circumstances beyond their control, could still share its reward. Giving is not only about money: we can also offer our time, effort, and help according to what Allah has given us. He described taqwa, being conscious of Allah, as the best provision, encouraging us to keep our values at home, at work, with friends, and in the masjid. He also invited us to look beyond this life and care about the good that will stay with us after we die.
