The khateeb reminded us that the purpose of Jumu’ah is to grow in mindfulness of Allah. He encouraged us to learn about the Prophet’s life throughout the Islamic year and drew lessons from the hijrah. Abu Bakr’s preparation shows us the value of planning ahead to serve Allah, while the Prophet’s choice to pay for his camel invites us to give willingly from what we value. The Prophet also made sure people’s belongings were returned, teaching us to protect others’ rights even when they treat us badly. The khutbah ended by asking us to take practical steps, trust Allah, and reflect on whether our everyday choices match the guidance we seek to follow.
