Honest dealings bring Allah’s barakah
“Being honest and sincere and giving in the way of Allah in your dealings in life is the secret that will ensure that Allah puts endless barakah in your transactions.”
Honest, dignified dealings invite Allah’s barakah, while greed and deception ultimately destroy blessing, relationships, and success.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- A business deal illustrates choosing honor over maximum personal profit.
- The cave companions’ story shows how integrity can bring unexpected blessing.
- Greed distorts decision-making in business, marriage, inheritance, and relationships.
- Truthfulness and transparency preserve barakah, while concealment erases it.
- Listeners are urged to admit mistakes, return what they took, and address deceit directly.
- The khutbah closes by connecting honesty with righteousness, Paradise, and prophetic character.
In the khateeb's words
“This spirit, brothers and sisters, the spirit of being honest and sincere and giving in the way of Allah in your dealings in life is the secret that will ensure that Allah puts endless barakah in your transactions, in your dealings, in your relationships.”
“don't ever think that you're gaining when you're dishonorable don't ever think that it's a trick of the shaytan”
For the dinner table
The khutbah teaches that real success in business, marriage, and everyday relationships comes from honesty, trustworthiness, and honor. Barakah means Allah places lasting goodness and increase in something, even when we choose less personal gain. Hiding flaws, deceiving people, or taking what is not ours may seem profitable but ultimately removes blessing and damages relationships. We should admit mistakes, return what belongs to others, and be transparent about our strengths and weaknesses. Truthfulness leads toward righteousness and Jannah, so we should ask Allah to protect us from greed and help us deal honorably.
- Where could our family practice more honesty this week?
- What should we do when we realize we have taken something that belongs to someone else?
- How can we remember Allah when making everyday decisions about money or fairness?
