For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that Islam is a perfect way of life, even though Muslims are still learning and sometimes fail. He said that loving and honoring Prophet Muhammad means following his example every day, not only celebrating his life on one special day or weekend. That includes speaking good words or staying quiet, treating neighbors well, praying consistently, paying zakat, smiling at other Muslims, and bringing the Sunnah into our behavior. He also encouraged us to hold onto faith when it feels unpopular or difficult. Finally, he asked us to pray with the seriousness and openness we would have if it were our last prayer.

  1. What is one sunnah of the Prophet you can practice more consistently this week?
  2. When is it better to stay quiet instead of speaking?
  3. What would you do differently if you knew today’s salah might be your last?
