For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah introduced Zubayr ibn al-Awwam, a close relative of the Prophet and one of the ten promised Paradise. He became Muslim as a teenager, endured persecution, and stayed firm in his faith. Throughout his life he served bravely, defended the Prophet, gave generously, and chose service over office or status. Even after conflict arose among the Companions, the sermon reminds us to hope for forgiveness and reunion in Jannah. We can honor their example by learning their lives, standing firm in faith, and helping calm conflict.

  1. Which quality of Zubayr would you most want to develop, and why?
  2. What is one way our family can learn more about the Companions?
  3. How can we help calm disagreements instead of making them worse?
