For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that loving Prophet Muhammad means more than speaking warmly about him; it means trying to follow his character and habits. We were encouraged to be gentle, forgiving, balanced, and careful with the rights of Allah, our families, and other people. Small practices, waking before Fajr, praying two rakahs, using a miswak, remembering Allah morning and evening, and eating with manners, can fill an ordinary day with worship. The khutbah also reminded us to choose the lasting good of the afterlife over comfort and desire. It ended by asking Allah to help suffering communities and guide our families and youth.
