Surah 112 · 4 verses. Four verses on who Allah is, described by the Prophet ﷺ as equal to a third of the Qur'an.
Once you know Al-Fatiha, these four short surahs are the classic next steps: enough to give every rakʿah of your prayers variety, plus the two surahs Muslims recite for protection every morning and night. Each has its own page with Arabic, transliteration, meaning, and audio, verse by verse.
Surah 112 · 4 verses. Four verses on who Allah is, described by the Prophet ﷺ as equal to a third of the Qur'an.
Surah 108 · 3 verses. The shortest surah of the Qur'an, three verses you can learn today.
Surah 113 · 5 verses. The first of the two protection surahs, a morning-and-evening refuge.
Surah 114 · 6 verses. The final surah of the Qur'an, the second protection surah, paired with Al-Falaq.
Al-Ikhlas first: four verses you will hear in prayers everywhere, described by the Prophet ﷺ as equal to a third of the Qur'an.
Al-Kawthar next: the shortest surah of the Qur'an; learnable in a sitting, and suddenly you have variety in your rakʿahs.
Al-Falaq and An-Nas together: the two protection surahs, recited as a pair morning, evening, and before sleep.
There is no required order: any surah or portion of the Qur’an is valid after Al-Fatiha in prayer. This is simply a gentle path many teachers suggest.
