Before the prayer
Give zakat al-Fitr before the Eid prayer
Zakat al-Fitr is a set amount of food, or in the Hanafi school its value in money, given for each person in the household to people in need, so they have food on the day of Eid. The Prophet Muhammad ordered it given before the Eid prayer (Sahih al-Bukhari 1503).

When is zakat al-Fitr due? Before the Eid prayer, the practice the Prophet Muhammad set when he ordered it paid before people go out to the prayer (Sahih al-Bukhari 1503). If it is not paid before the prayer, all four Sunni schools of law hold that it is still owed.
